The Bible

God's Infallible, Inerrant and Inspired Holy Word

Q. 2. What rule hath God given to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him?
A. The Word of God, which is contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, is the only rule to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him. From the WSC

Highly prizing the bible is a prerequisite for being a true Christian believer. Remember these verses? Psalm 119:72 says, “The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.” 2 Peter 1:18, “We heard this voice which came from heaven; we also have a more sure word.” Kindling an ardent love for the word is a necessary consequence of being a real Christian, instead of a hypocrite.

God’s people are commissioned to understand the word and study it. Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:29 to, “…learn of Me…” How do Christians learn? Study the word. Be like the Bereans who studied the Scriptures to prove out Paul’s preaching, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so,” (Acts 17:11).
